WORCESTERSHIRE MP WELCOMES CONSULTATION ON SCHOOL FUNDING CHANGES
News Story

The Minister of State for Schools has written to Mid Worcestershire MP Peter Luff reassuring him about school funding.
Lord Hill of Oareford confirmed that

“School funding will go up in line with any rise in pupil numbers. Our long term aspiration is to move to a National Funding Formula to ensure that resources going to schools are transparent, logical and equitable.”

Lord Hill, went on to confirm that there would be a full and detailed consultation on school funding changes for 2012 – 2013.

Peter said he was “very encouraged” that the Department for Education aims to work closely with local authorities and schools to ensure a stable transition to any new system.

He commented

“It is clear that the Schools Minister accepts entirely the case that we need to have a more equitable system. This will make sure that over time Worcestershire schools get a fairer deal even at a time of spending cuts.”
