TOWN MP CONGRATULATES EVESHAM SCHOOLS ON NEW FEDERATION

At a meeting at Evesham High School last week Peter Luff MP congratulated Caroline Browne, Executive Headteacher of Evesham High School and Simon De Montfort Middle School, on the sparkling success of the two schools’ ground-breaking “federation”.

Speaking after the meeting Peter said,

“I am really encouraged by these innovative “federation” arrangements. It is clear that pupils, staff and the wider community have all benefitted from this arrangement. It is an idea that has achieved excellent results for both schools. Having one leadership team and one governing body with staff that work in both schools has obviously made a huge difference.”

Simon De Montfort Middle School joined Evesham High in a “soft federation”, a strong but relatively informal working relationship, in May 2009. In September of last year the decision was taken to establish put things on a formal footing and a “hard federation” was set up, linking the two schools very closely, with Caroline Browne becoming Executive Head to both schools.

Peter went on to say,

“Since they joined forces, both schools haven’t looked back. I have no doubt that the federation has been the turning point for the Middle School. After what had been a difficult period for the school, the new arrangements have created the conditions for real success. Indeed, the school has now exceeded its Key Stage 2 target. This is an outstanding achievement in a very short time. Everyone involved deserves to be congratulated.”
