LOCAL MP ‘SPEAKS OUT’ AGAINST PREJUDICE BY SIGNING HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY BOOK OF COMMITMENT

This week Peter Luff MP for Mid Worcestershire signed the Holocaust Memorial Day Book of Commitment in the House of Commons, honouring those who died during the Holocaust.
Friday 27th January will mark the 67th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp which is the site of the largest mass murder in history.
The Holocaust Educational Trust placed a Book of Commitment in the House of Commons, giving MPs the chance to honour those who were persecuted and killed during the holocaust.
In signing the Book of Commitment Peter Luff paid tribute to the extraordinary men and women who having survived the Holocaust, work to educate young people about what they endured, through the Holocaust Educational Trust’s outreach programme.
Across the country commemorative events have been arranged by schools, faith groups and community organisation to remember this important day.
Peter commented,
‘Holocaust Memorial Day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and is an important opportunity to remember the victims of the genocide. It is also an important reminder for everyone to ‘speak up and speak out’ against the racism and prejudice that is still experienced today.
‘I would like to pay testament to the work of the Holocaust Educational Trust who continue to ensure this day is remembered and for their work in challenging all forms of prejudice’
