JUBILEE WALK LAUNCHED IN DROITWICH

A new 8-mile circular walk to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was unveiled yesterday, Monday, in Droitwich Spa.

The walk is the brainchild of Mike and Jan Skan and was supported by Councillor Pam Davey. It was officially opened by the town’s MP, Peter Luff.

Speaking at the event Pam Davey congratulated the Skans on their initiative and Peter Luff said how pleased he was to see the town’s canals, reopened only a year ago, being used as the centerpiece of the new walk.

Peter commented,

“This walk will be a lasting reminder of the happy events that took place in Droitwich to mark the Jubilee and of sixty years of magnificent service by Her Majesty.

“Our thanks should go to the Skans for their initiative and to Pam Davey for all the help and encouragement she gave them in making it a reality. The canals were always about far more than the boats that would cruise on them – among other things they also open up new opportunities to enjoy Droitwich and the marvelous countryside around the town and I couldn’t be more pleased that this walk has been created.”
