MP CONGRATULATES SPA SCHOOL ON OFSTED REPORT

Peter Luff MP has written to the Headteacher of Droitwich Spa High School, Natalie Waters, to congratulate her and her staff on the ‘good’ rating that the school received from its latest Ofsted inspection.

Last year the school was reported to be ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted. Peter challenged the way this report was interpreted locally but since then Ofsted has re-inspected the school and found a dramatic improvement. The new inspection showed that outcomes in some subjects were above the national average and it found significantly improved behaviour. The majority of the teaching was also deemed to be good or outstanding.

In the letter to the Headteacher Peter wrote:

“It is a dramatic improvement to move from ‘inadequate’ to ‘good’ and it is a testament to the hard work of you and your team.

“I know this report will do a great deal to reassure parents of your pupils about the very high standard of teaching at your school and I know that the school will continue to go from strength to strength under your leadership.”

Commenting, Peter said,

“I always thought the original report was too harsh and this reassessment of the school is much closer to the reality I have encountered on my many visits.

“Never the less, I know that the management team accepted that improvements were needed and this report shows sparkling success. This latest assessment from Ofsted is a real Christmas present to the Spa, but one that has been hard won by all the professional staff at the high school. We owe them a big debt of thanks.”
