Federation of Small Businesses takes local MP Christmas shopping

With just a few shopping days remaining until Christmas the FSB was delighted that the local MP, Peter Luff, accepted their invitation to join them in a local shopping trip where Robin was able to meet with and discuss current issues with a number of Broadway’s independent retailers.

Peter Luff, MP for Mid Worcestershire, said,

“The businesses we visited in Broadway showed the enormous variety of services and products available from high street shops and the real value of looking to independent stores before turning to the larger, more anonymous, retailers. Supporting local businesses should be a very high priority for anyone who cares about their high street. And many of these small businesses of today could be the big businesses of tomorrow, too. That’s another reason for supporting these real-life entrepreneurs who really understand the value of service.”

Judi Brazkiewicz, Chairman for FSB Worcestershire, said,

“Peter is always very supportive of local businesses from all sectors, but today was about retailing and the role it plays in keeping our town and city centres vibrant, providing employment, training, leisure and, of course, retailing opportunities to local residents and visitors alike.

The FSB passionately believes that local people want to see a thriving high street and to achieve that we have demonstrated today that Broadway has a fantastic choice to meet both seasonal and everyday shopping demands.

I was particularly impressed with the range and high quality goods on show; Broadway has so much to offer, it’s a perfect shopping destination for Christmas shopping as it is full of independent retailers offering something a little bit out of the ordinary, so whatever your budget Broadway guarantees original gift ideas for friends and family.

Although today has been a bit of light hearted fun the message is a serious one – use your local shops, support your local businesses and in doing so we shall keep local people employed and towns and cities great places to work and visit.”
