TODAY IS TAX CUT DAY

Saturday 6th April is the day that over 34,000 Mid Worcestershire residents get a tax cut.

That’s the good news being celebrated by Mid Worcestershire MP Peter Luff.

Commenting, Peter said,

“As the Chancellor announced in the Budget, the government has made hardworking people its priority, rewarding those who want to get on in life by letting people keep more of the money they have worked hard to earn.

“Today the amount of money people can earn before paying any income tax is being increased to £9,440. 24 million people across Britain will pay less income tax as a result. It’s estimated that about 34,290 of them live in Mid Worcestershire.

“Together with previous tax cuts by this government, 2.2 million of the lowest earning people across the country will be taken out of income tax altogether – including an estimated 3,360 who live in Mid Worcestershire.

“On top of the Council Tax freeze, the fuel duty freeze and the reduction in beer duty, today’s tax cut shows that even at a time of austerity it’s proving possible to allow people to keep more of their hard earned money. That’s really good news.”
