LEAKY CHURCH ROOF? GET IT FIXED WITH NEW CASH FUNDS SAYS MP

A special £15 million fund has been made available for the repair of roofs and guttering on vulnerable listed church buildings and local MP, Sir Peter Luff, is urging local communities to apply.

Peter explained,

“In Mid Worcestershire we have some of the most beautiful churches in England but, sadly, many of these will be in urgent need of repair – deterioration of roofs, gutters or high-level stonework are the most common cause of problems.

“That is why I am delighted with this new fund, announced by the Chancellor in his Autumn Statement last week, as it offers a real solution for many of the problems our church buildings are facing.

“It is essential that we conserve these places of worship – church buildings can be hubs of wider community activity and provide a symbol of local identity.

“I do hope that parishes in need will take up this opportunity.”

Eligible parishes can make applications for grants between £10,000 and £100,000. The deadline for submission is 30th January and the money will be allocated by 31st March 2015. Details about the scheme and how to apply can be found on The National Heritage Memorial Fund’s website at www.nhmf.org.uk or via the ChurchCare website at www.churchcare.co.uk.
