DATES SET TO END TO M5 NOISE NIGHTMARE IN WYCHAVON - FOR EVERYONE

Sir Peter Luff, MP for Mid Worcestershire, has declared victory in one of his longest campaigns after receiving a letter from the Highways Agency confirming that the whole length of the M5 between Junctions 9 and 4a of the M5 will have a low noise surface by the end of next year.
In a letter to the local parish councils and councillors, explaining the news, Sir Peter wrote:

“I have received a letter from the Highways Agency confirming that low noise resurfacing work will take place from Junctions 8-4a on the M5. This work extends much further than initially thought, as work was originally planned only for Junctions 4a-6, without any commitment to a timetable.

“…resurfacing work of Junction 8-7 northbound has already begun and work on Junction 7-6 will begin later this month, with the final work for Junction 4a-6 due to be completed by December 2016.

“After years of campaigning together, I know you and those you represent will be very pleased that we have now have a timetable for the work to be completed.

“By the end of next year the whole length of the motorway through my constituency will have a low noise surface. Residents from the north of Wychbold to the south of Whittington can now finally look forward to lower noise levels – what a relief.”

Sir Peter added,

“I have been campaigning for an end to the injustice for those who live near the M5 for years now and I am delighted that this work has been given the go ahead and a firm timetable has been set out for its completion. This won’t stop all the noise, but it should make it much more tolerable and end the nightmare for hundreds of people.

“This news will be a great late Christmas present for those communities who have suffered with noise pollution from this road for too long.”
