Local Winner in the Jessops All Party Parliamentary Photographic Exhibition 2012
News Story

The annual Jessops All Party Parliamentary Photographic Competition, now in its tenth year, is open to all members of both the House of Commons and House of Lords with the winning photographs chosen by a panel of photographic industry experts. This year over 400 entries were submitted, displaying a diverse range of imagery taken from both the politicians’ personal and professional lives.

Six politicians have been named as the ‘Judges Choices’ winners of a keenly contested photographic shoot-out between MPs and Lords at the Houses of Parliament which are unveiled on 2nd July as part of the Jessops All-Party Photographic Exhibition.

Dr Michael Maloney O.B.E. and chairman of the judging panel notes that selecting the winning photographs was particularly difficult this year due to the high level of submissions. He comments, "The quality of entries at this year’s All Party Photographic Competition has been at an all time high. Many of the photographs look like they were taken by professional photographers rather than members of both Houses."

The six winning photographs together with a further 100 images will be available for public viewing from 2nd July to 5th July at the Jessops All-Party Parliamentary Photographic Exhibition in The Upper Waiting Hall of the House of Commons. The Exhibition will then move to the Royal Robing Room at the House of Lords from 6th July for a further two weeks. The images are also available to view on the Jessops Facebook page

Sean Emmett, Marketing and E-Commerce Director for Jessops said, "The Jessops All-Party Parliamentary Photographic Exhibition provides an exceptional opportunity for UK politicians to showcase their work and give the public a unique insight into their lives through their photographs. Jessops is delighted to have sponsored this event for ten years and hope the exhibition will continue to inspire everyone to share our passion for photography."
