Crime in West Mercia has fallen once again over the last year and continues to fall faster than the national average, according to new figures from Office of National Statistics.

Over the last three years recorded crime in West Mercia has fallen by 15%, whilst it has fallen nationally by around 10%.

This reduction in crime has been welcomed by local Member of Parliament, Peter Luff.

Peter said,

‘These new figures are very welcome and demonstrate that our police force continue to rise to the challenge of making savings while cutting crime and delivering a better service to the public.

‘West Mercia Police have achieved significant reductions in crime with reduced budgets, and should be praised for what they are doing locally to keep people safe.

‘It is great news that crime has fallen across the country and England and Wales are safer today than they have been for decades. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t more to do but we are fortunate that in Mid Worcestershire we have such an excellent police force who I know will continue to drive down crime.’
