News Story

Mid Worcestershire MP, Peter Luff, has described the news that the Worcestershire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is likely to undertake a project to look at the overall health needs of the Evesham area as ôvery encouraging"

The MP was responding to news that the PCT looks set to approve the project at its board meeting on 14th May.

Commenting, Peter said,

"This does not mean that we will definitely get a new hospital for the town, but it does make it more likely.

"It's vital that that the health needs of the area are looked at properly - including the consequences of an ageing population, increased house building in South Worcestershire and the possible new town at Long Marston.

"I very much hope that the PCT board agrees to undertake this study, which explicitly includes the need to re-develop the Community Hospital in Evesham."

It is hoped the study will be concluded during this financial year - that is by the end of March 2009- with an outline business case for whatever the study recommends being developed thereafter
